This blog is under construction and testing.
I’m trying to set up a Chinese-English bilingual blog, but apparently it’s quite hard. So as you navigate through the blog, although I’ve tried to translate stuff into English to reach a wider audience, there might still be things that are only available in Chinese. (Feel free to be proud if you know Chinese, my fella!)
Two ways to change between English and Chinese:
-
Change the language code between
en
(English) andzh
(Chinese) in the URL. Other parts of the URL stays the same. -
Click on the blog title ‘Jiaxcuit’ and you will be back at the home page.
Updates will come soon! (Hopefully after I learn more HTML and CSS.)
https://jiaxcuit.github.io/en/posts/uni-app/
改成
https://jiaxcuit.github.io/zh/posts/uni-app/
Blog Content
Welcome to my blog! This is a pretty chill personal blog, mainly sharing my own IB study experience and my study resources, but also sharing bits and pieces from my life. To see the posts, please use the “Tags” and “Archive” functions in the sidebar.
Why do I blog?
The IB, a not-so-popular education system, has an amazing transparency. There are very few study resources available online, and there are even fewer places to learn from others' studying experiences. After all the troubles I had in the IB, I was so pissed that I decided to carry on with the spirit of CAS and share as much information as I could. Hopefully, I can help every single one of you who is suffering in the IB.
Here’s an answer from Zhihu1 that resonates with me a lot: What do you think you really learned from IB? - Andy Prime’s answer - Zhihu. Come on, you can do this! You’re not alone in the IB. And IB is not that useless after all.
My IB Experience
What I share on my blog can be influenced by many factors such as subject choices, syllabus versions, grades, my personal learning style, etc. I kindly ask you to keep these in mind. I hope I won’t mislead people in areas I’m not good at 😅
- Session: M21
- HL: Math A&A, Physics, English B
- SL: Chemistry, History, Chinese A: Literature (Self-Taught)
- EE: Physics
- Predicted Grades: 41+3. I got my only 6 in History. My TOK was predicted a B, and my EE was predicted an A.
- Actual Grades (Exam Route): 45. TOK B, EE A.
Because of COVID, I did not study any Option units, so I don’t have much experience or advice regarding them. However, I have skimmed through the Astrophysics and Engineering Physics Options, so I’m not completely unfamiliar with those ones.
The curriculum of History is very flexible. We have chosen these topics:
Topic | Title | Case Studies |
---|---|---|
Prescribed subject 3 | The Move to Global War | Japan, Germany, Italy |
World History Topic 10 | Authoritarian States (20th Century) | Germany, Italy, China |
World History Topic 11 | Causes and Effects of 20th Century Wars | World War One, Chinese Civil War(s), Spanish Civil War |
Comparing the arts and the sciences in the IB, I seem to be better at the sciences. Comparing essay writing and solving exam problems, I seem to be better at solving problems. However, although I’m not particularly good at writing essays, it seems like physics lab reports are not a problem.
So, I am …?
I can probably give myself a bunch of labels.
I’m a procrastinator who always struggles with deadlines (but still manages to meet them).
I’m also a perfectionist who likes to get my working area well-organized before I start studying.
I’m also passionate about methodologies: studying methods, organization methods, time management, etc. I’m keen to learn all kinds of things from all kinds of people.
I believe great tools can boost efficiency, and good thinking and studying methods are more important than blind diligence.
Contact
Although I can be outgoing in front of my friends, I’m rather introverted when facing strangers, so please contact me via email first: jiaxcuit@gmail.com. Comments and email communication are always welcomed! (Remember to log in with Github to post comments.) Thanks 🤗
